PRODUCT NAMECASEINECS (EC#)MOLECULAR FORMULAMOLECULAR WEIGHTHalquinol8067-69-4N/AC9H5ClNOR178.6 General Product Description The antimicrobial effect of halquinol derives from its ability to chelate metal ions, particularly iron, copper and zinc. In bacteria, fungi and protozoa, essential trace elements are thus removed, and enzyme functioning ceases. Additionally, halquinol acts directly on gastrointestinal smooth muscle to slow down peristaltic activity. Thus absorption of nutrients, particularly in animals suffering from diarrhoea, is enhanced, and performance criteria are improved markedly. Since very little halquinol is absorbed, residues are not a concern and no withholding period is needed, even for laying birds. Halquinol acts entirely in the gut and systemic activity is not necessary. It is a very safe product Additional name(s): chlorquinol; appearance: a yellowish white to yellowish grey powderLoss on drying : Max.0.5%Chloride: Max.700 ppm.Sulphate : Max.700 ppm5-7 dichloroquinolin-8-ol 57.0% to 75.0% 5 chloroquinolin-8-ol 23.0% to 40.0%7-Chloroquinolin-8-ol < 4.0%8-hydroxyquinoline <0.5% Indications and Usage Improves growth rate and feed conversion efficiency Active against fungi, gram positive and gram negative bacteria, and against protozoa Prevents and cures many types of diarrhoea Unique anti-peristaltic activity to promote better absorption of nutrients Very little is systemically absorbed.
